History

Family Cat Productions sprang into being way back in 1990 as a semi-fictional production company/front designed to take the blame for the goofy ideas, bad jokes, and audio pranks contained in a series of free-form radio shows, broadcast indescriminately on WLFM, 91.1 FM, Appleton, Wisconsin (a service of Lawrence University). The perpetrators--Dominic Welhouse (aka Dr. Norm Deviant), Todd J. Niquette (aka President Ford), and David B. Wetzel (aka Dr. Nom de Plume)--subjected literally tens of listeners to a mix of lame humor, cool but obscure tunes, bits of found sound, and far too much banter. Shows produced under the Family Cat Productions banner included: "Hi-Ho Radio," "Nights in Plaid Flannel," and "Sly and the Family Cat."

What we do now ...

These days, Family Cat Productions is gradually reinventing itself as a "creative digital media" company. That definition is sufficiently vague to include the many many projects and ideas that have accumulated over the years and need an online hosting and publishing vehicle. These projects can or do include audio productions (text-sound compositions, music, and documentaries), sheet music (original compositions and arrangements), computer programs (interfaces for live electroacoustic musical performance), audio post-production/editing/transfer/mastering, online games, and web animations.

Who are we?

Family Cat Productions is currently managed and operated by co-founders David B. Wetzel and Todd J. Niquette.
